Last Post

If I had to choose who I would pick to play the main characters in the movie version of The Swiss Family Robinson, it wouldn't be that hard of a desision on my part.

Papa would be played by Ed Begley Jr. because he seems like a father figure. Mama would be played by Susan Sarandon because she can play a wholesome mother. Fritz would be played by Josh Hutcherson because he could play a big brother. Ernest would be played by Zachary Gordon because he can play a know-it-all. Jack would be played by Frankie Jonas because he can play an explorative little kid. And Finally, Francis would be played by Trevor Gagnon because he can play a very young child actor.

QUOTE :D

I chose the first quote, (I don't feel like re-typing it, so I'm just calling it the first one.)

This author is talking about how reading a book can educate people very much. If you read about an expedition to Mount Everest, you know a lot more about it than if you had not read it. A good book will inform you on so much, It's as though you lived through an experience you've never encountered in real life.

This quote relates to my book, The Swiss Family Robinson, so much at the moment. I'm learning very interesting things about surviving after being stranded on a desolate island. For instance, I learned that when stranded, you must stay calm at all times so you don't waste energy or food. The first quote is true, because after reading some of my book, I felt as though I was stranded on the island too!

My newest book is The Swiss Family Robinson. This story is about a Swedish Family named Robinson. I know, you wouldn't have ever guess what the book was about from the title, right?

Anyway, we open with the family on some type of ship, be it their own or one they're just hitching a ride on, that is being torn apart by a deadly storm. Crew members are jumping ship, and the family must fend for themselves.
The father of the family, so far no name has been given, has taken it upon himself to save his family and the animals on board. He comes up with a plan to nail together eight tubs to transport his family, some animals, and other supplies to near by land. They arrive safely and begin to set up camp. They begin to face hardships like wild life, food shortage, and possible savages. I won't ruin anything for you, because this book is very intuitive and well written.
This story reminds me a bit of one of my favorite shows, Lost. This is because they are on an unknown island trying to survive, and they must overcome hardships to get off safely, and go home.

QUOTE C:

I believe the quote is talking about how literature makes you see the world in different points of veiw. If you take one side in an argument and read about the opposing side of the argument, you're opinion on it can be changed.

The Time Machine :D

My new book The Time Machine is about a man who creates a time machine and goes into the year 802,701. He recounts everything in the new world with a few peers. He describes the future as a forest like world filled with unintelligent beings called the Eloi, which are what humans have evolved to. The time traveler also speaks of the Morlocks, an underground race of humanoid creatures which apperently use the Eloi as food.

This story is very intuative, and the ending is interesting. It made me think about what the world is going to come to, and when it will all end.

DONE :^P

A few days ago I finished, 'The Metamorphosis,' and I quite enjoyed it.

A few things though; why exactly did, at the end, the author talk about how Grete would soon need a husband? Why in the world did the author end this depressing and serious story on an extremely whimsical and irrelevant though as this? I have my ideas as to why, but in case you read the story, I don't want to ruin anything for you.

Regardless of that mood changing ending, the story was very well written, and the author was quite adept at explaining things in tremendous detail, almost annoyingly so at times.

Something I found very interesting was the fact the main character, who was turned into a giant insect, was never fully described. This was so the reader could imagine whatever he looked like.

Upon some reaserch I found that when the story was being published, Franz Kafka, the author, refused to let it be published if ever a copy had a picture of any insect. I also found out that in the original german story, Franz used the word Ungeziefer, which english translators have said to simply mean insect, but in reality the full translation is, 'An unclean animal not suitable for sacrifice'

Franz did not want to convey any detail as to what Gregor, the main character, had become. Franz wanted to tell of the disgust that had befallen Gregor.

After discovering parts of the story that were lost in translation, I have grown very fond of this story. (I also wonder why the English language is lacking so many words)

Alrighty followers, or random people checking out my page, Miss K has asked us another question, "What about this book do you think will challenge you? How will you deal with that challenge?"

I think at this point I can't say how this story will change me, because I barely know what it's about. I can say, however, I might be saddened by this story because I've been told how depressing it is. I will most likely deal with this change by thinking about what the story means to me and the world in the grand scheme of things.

I'm now about halfway done with the "Metamorphosis", and I'm a bit confused on what is going on, but I'm sure things will be explained soon or at the end of the story.

Thanks for reading,
